Alzheimer’s Disease Research
9 October, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Alzheimer’s disease is the most prevalent neurodegenerative process in humans, affecting millions of people worldwide. This disease, currently without a cure, is characterized by progressive loss of memory and other cognitive functions, leading to a decrease in the quality of life of sufferers and their families. It is a silent disease whose symptoms may go unnoticed in its early stages; when it is finally diagnosed, it may be too late to treat it effectively. Therefore, it is crucial to research and understand the risk factors and the likelihood of developing the disease, which will allow the development of prevention and early treatment strategies.
The main objective of this conference on Alzheimer research is to explore ways to synchronize, at earlier stages, possible multidisciplinary analyses to identify and act on the risk factors of the disease. By combining the knowledge and efforts of various disciplines, it is hoped to lay the foundations for an integrative approach to Alzheimer’s prevention and treatment.
In the final part of the conference, the implications of how knowing the very early development of signs or risks of Alzheimer’s disease, strategies could be implemented to prevent or delay the onset of the neurodegenerative process in at-risk individuals. Although a definitive cure has not yet been found, the development of early and effective interventions would be a great first step towards improving the quality of life of patients and their families.
